On NBC’s Today show, Roker, Vieira, and Lauer(Dill Weed) taste tested a $1000 dollar pizza made by an Italian restaurant owner in New York. I studied the expressions on the three NBC faces; they were chomping at the bit just to get a bite of that caviar-smothered pizza. And when they took a bite, their eyes opened wide in a glorious reflection of joyous taste bud tantalizing ecstasy. All three gave a quick approval to the new $1000 dollar caviar pizza invented by their Italian friend. Moreover, their Italian friend/entrepreneur spends $700 to make his pizza so he makes $300 profit ($300 dollars profit on each pizza. (HELLO)).
I have a thought: Everyone I know in mainstream America would gag at the thought of eating raw fish eggs in any context. We eat hen eggs, fried or scrambled, as this is part of our culture. And we can afford hen eggs. We often have ham, sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, biscuits, sausage gravy, juice, milk, and/or coffee with our hen eggs, all for less than five dollars. Mainstream Americans do not eat caviar. Most Americans have never tasted caviar and probably never will. My gut feeling is NBC has made the assumption that all of us here in the heartland enjoy caviar on a daily basis because our personnel chefs prepare the delicacy for us in our multi-million dollar estates. I wonder if the people at NBC would cringe at the idea of relocating to our heartland, eating hen eggs, and living like we do; I think we simply could not satisfy their caviar addictions. Have the NBC people ever viewed Paris Hilton’s “The Simple Life”?
In conclusion, these NBC people really are out of touch with th majority of Americans. They are so personally caught up in their own elitist Euro socialist culture that they are simply unaware of whom they are reporting to. I have the feeling that NBC does not realize that America and socialist Europe are not the same cultures but…. wait a minute… perhaps… could it be that NBC is actually reporting to socialist Europe and our TV’s just happen to pick up the signal.
